Note that this is a draft and may never be posted for pubic eyes...

Being Danish on Drachenfels is not always easy, a shard where trammel ruleset facets is dominated by Germans. Don't get me wrong, i got no beef with Germans or Germany what so ever, i do have a problem with people presuming I speak german, and continue to speak to me in German after i have told them in English my German is quite terrible, or if they are well aware i don't speak much German.

Have even been told to, and i quote "speak german or GTFO to europa" and "You can just learn German if you don't understand us", I do not wish to speak negative of Germany or Germans, nor do i have any reason to. But this is why i learned English, to be ale to communicate with people not from my country.

Is it too much to ask, that people speak to me in English, as it is an International language. That is mandatory in school and most, Germans included, speak.

You may find that it's an odd time to bring up a topic like this, some 14 years after Drachenfels was opened.. And indeed it may be, but recent event has made our problem, more of a problem, than it used to be.

This event is our most recent and current Event Moderator - Borborad. Which somehow does not feel it is his duty to translate to English unless it's "important". Apparently, nothing is important to borborad, because nothing is translated to English at the Meet & Greets, Yet he does not hesitate to translate English to German.

Is this fair i ask?

I have contacted him about it, but he doesn't himself see that he is neglecting English translations. And while i agree the English is present as it should on the other events, the Meet & Greet events are not worthy to show up for if you don't know German, because it is 95% German. And indeed i have stopped attending them cause i didn't understand the majority of it or even some of the topics debated. But apparently it's not "important".

It is perfectly possible for German and English to Co-Exist. I'm not asking for people to stop speaking German, but to not forget Your English speaking peers.

As mentioned, English is not my primary language Either.

-Gilmour

I feel for you - And totally understand your problem.
The German youth gets dumber every generation (no kidding). Even those kids in high school forget how to write an error-free GERMAN sentence. Don't expect them to learn proper english...
