just your average horse race.

rules are simple, mount must be a horse, no ossys, llama, etherals, mares, ki-rins, unicorns or anythnig else besides a horse. the h?rse can be trained to your likings as you please/see fit.

each contestant will be provided with 5 checkpoint tokens, these tokens must be given to the checkpoint crew as they pass (by dropping it on the ground, trading it could slow the contestant unreasonable)

the one who makes the goal first with all tokens passed out underway wins.. quite simple really, however great fun ^^

That sounds like a lot of fun!

But how do you make sure no one recalls around?

thats what the checkpoint tokens are for, along the route there will be checkpoints in secret locations, so if people deside to cut a corner or cheat by recalling they might miss a checkpoint, and hense be disquialified.

Ok, i see ... but then ... how do the participants know where they have to go ... is the race track somehow marked?

First i thought it would be a checkpoint race ... would also be fun because people could choose their own routes ... but then you cant check on recallers ... so your idea seems to be more intelligent :-)

track will follow a road, for example it could be the road between luna and umbra. or it could be from scara brae to minoc.. whichever route itll be it will follow a road or some really obvious landmarks.

another idea that have been used before in UORace which piotr organised is to use UO Automap to track contestants with. but its a little more advanced to connect properly to uuoam server. so i dunno... maybe :)

I would have suggested the use of UOAM.. And the fact its a bit advanced isn't really that big of a deal.. You can also just post a small tutorial in joining a AM server when your announcing the race.

How do poeple feel about me trying to set up this event? Ive been thinking about it because i aint doing much else on this course!

Im thinking along the lines of charging an entrace fee lets say 15Kgp as example and splitting the gold between the winners lets say 1st 50% 2nd 30% and 3rd 20%. depending on attendace of cause.

Maybe bofore this split a 5% admin costs could be taken from the top for aminstration set up fees.

The main problem would be as i said i could never make it a fixed time event i.e. once every 2 weeks it would have to be more of il start advertising a week before the actual event.

Opinions on this would be greatfully accepted and voulenteers for help even better :D

Been thinking even more and maybe although this would be harder to administrate we could hold destruction derby type events.

All chars participating would have to be guilded and would there would be no rules event e.g. paralize other players or kill them wot ever it takes to win.

sounds lie fun but has potential to upset maybe.

well pio organzied a race where they were no rules at all.. could kill the other participants as they were guilded.. but that isnt what i had in mind.. i had in mind a peacefull horse race just from point A to point B via a specific route. first across the line wins.

and using uoam this should be easy to track that no one cheats or alike.

but this is planned to be an event to take place in near future however no date have been set yet.
